In June, the Cabinet approved the Basic Concept for Regional Revitalization 2.0, which sets out the direction for the next ten years. Regional Revitalization 2.0 is not simply a policy for local activation, but an economic strategy to restore Japan’s vitality, a social policy to realize diverse forms of happiness, and an initiative to rediscover the true value and appeal of regional communities. Its success relies on the active participation of people from all walks of life, including residents as well as stakeholders from industry, government, academia, finance, labor, and expert communities. This panel discussion will introduce the initiatives being undertaken by various ministries and explore future perspectives for achieving the vision of a strong, prosperous, and innovative—and enjoyable—regional Japan, leading to a stronger and more vibrant nation.
